Crump Group to focus on multi-million expansion plan in Canada and US

The recently appointed president Paul Sproule aims to quadruple the production of the dog treat company after posting record sales last year.
Sproule, that joined the company in February 2021 as vice president of strategy, will implement the company’s $40 million (€35.8M) transformational growth agenda.
According to co-cofounder Margot Crump, the company posted in 2021 a sales increase of 70% as well as a growth of 140% in distribution. “We’re excited to have Paul keep the momentum going,” she said.
“With a continued focus on naturally made, single or limited ingredient dog treats, we know product innovation and capacity are key to growth,” said new president Sproule.
One of the first challenges for the new president is opening two new manufacturing facilities, which are expected to create 250 jobs. A new plant of 250,000 square feet will open in Mississauga (Ontario) “in the coming months.”
Last year, the Canadian manufacturer announced the opening of its first production facility in the US in North Carolina. The project aimed to create “a strategic east-coast location” is to create 160 jobs after investing $13.2 million (€11.8M).
With Sproule’s promotion, company founders Margot Crump and Joe Crump will assume broader leadership roles on the company’s board of directors while playing an active role in the daily operations.
The Crump Group, created in 2006 in Caledon (Ontario), manufactures dog treats under Crumps’ Naturals, Caledon Farms and Dog Delights. They are sold through retailers in North America.
