Farmina eyes expansion into markets in the Americas with new facility

The Italian pet food manufacturer is strengthening its North American footprint and plans to extend its product range. GlobalPETS has more.
Farmina Pet Foods has recently announced that it is scaling production in North America with a new $115 million (€98.4M) state-of-the-art dry food facility.
The 150,000-square-foot manufacturing location in Reidsville, North Carolina, features a fully integrated onsite microbiological and analytical laboratory for real-time quality control.
It will produce Farmina’s entire portfolio of Natural & Delicious (N&D), VetLife and Team Breeder diets using the same ingredients as in Europe.
“By producing closer to where our products are consumed, we can significantly reduce lead times, increase flexibility and continue delivering the same trusted quality using our established European ingredient suppliers and production standards,” Loris Rinaldi, CEO of Farmina Pet Foods North America, tells GlobalPETS.
Exploring new markets
The facility will also strengthen the firm’s ties to the US and Canadian markets. However, the CEO notes to GlobalPETS that the new production plan provides them with the flexibility and capacity to explore new markets.
“While the primary focus of our North American Kitchen is to serve the U.S., Canadian, Mexican and Caribbean markets, the facility is also strategically positioned to support expansion into other countries across the region,” adds Rinaldi.
Farmina is also planning to expand its product range to address emerging needs in pet health.
