Hollywood Feed tops the pet care category in America’s Best Retailers 2022
Chuck and Don’s Pet Food & Supplies, Petsmart, Pet Supplies Plus, and Petland are also in the ranking made by American weekly news magazine Newsweek.
US customers ranked 195 stores based on the product range, customer service, atmosphere, accessibility, and shop layout.
A total of five pet retailers appear on the list. With a remarkably high score (98.33), Hollywood Feed took first place in the Pet Care category. Minnesota-based Chuck and Don’s Pet Food & Supplies came second (91.35), followed by Petsmart (87.90), Pet Supplies Plus (87.86), and Petland (87.51).
The five listed companies were not available for comments.
Newsweek’s 2022 list exclusively includes brick-and-mortar stores. Last year, Newsweek’s best online shops awarded Petsmart.com 7th place out of 16 online retailers.
Pet Supplies Plus came first as an “offline retailer” in America’s Best PetCare Brands 2021. Hollywood Feed was mentioned 4th last year in the grooming salon services category, and Petsmart was recognized in various care services categories. There was no mention of Chuck and Don’s nor Petland in 2021, who made inroads into 2022’s ranking.
More than 10,000 customers were asked to rank stores in 39 product categories and awarded the 195 best. Half of the score was based on how likely shoppers were to recommend the stores to their friends and family, and the other half was based on 5 factors (products, customer service, atmosphere, accessibility, and shop layout).
The top 3-10 retailers based on category size receiving the highest scores in each category were then awarded as America’s Best Retailers 2022.
