Indian pet marketplace Snouters to expand to Indonesia

The Chennai-based pet care start-up closed a successful round of investment.

Snouters, which also claims to be India’s largest network of pet homestays, announced the completion of a successful round of angel investments from senior executives at Google and Meta.

Co-Founder Vinod Kumar told PETS International that the current valuation of Snouters is $3 million (€2.7M).

Through the investment round, Snouters plans to expand its core team, improve technology infrastructure, and develop its marketing and advertising to reach a broader audience to be a “pet care super app.”

Snouters offers pet care services, including pet sitting, boarding, grooming, and dog walking. It has served more than 3,500 pet parents since its creation in 2021, with the country’s largest portfolio of freelance pet care providers.

Market expansion

The funding round comes after the start-up won the B2B category at ‘Decoding Marketplaces,’ an initiative from venture capital firm Accel supporting digital marketplaces in different sectors.

Snouters said it would launch in major cities across Southeast Asia in 2023, starting with Indonesia’s capital Jakarta.

“The pet services space in India and [Southeast Asia] is largely unorganized, fragmented, and riddled with quality and reliability issues. Snouters is the go-to brand for pet parents in India for anything around pet services,” said Founder Srikant Krishnan.
