Ingredient manufacturer has obtained approval to market strategic products in Brazil
Israel-based Galam is now allowed to import and sell its probiotic fiber products for animal consumption in the Latin American nation.
Galam’s prebiotic fiber GOFOS has already been present in the country for two years for human consumption. With the approval of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply (MAPA) the application for the pet industry is effective immediately.
The Brazilian market is one of the largest industries for pet food and animal nutrition worldwide, claimed Yael Aizenberg, the company’s Global Sales & Marketing Manager.
“Galam has entered into cooperation with the biggest worldwide brands that are also present in the Brazilian market and we have been waiting for the approval to include GOFOS into their formulas, as well as other local pet food and animal nutrition companies in Brazil”, she pointed out to GlobalPETS.
Optimistic future
The Israeli company is confident that the pet food industry in Brazil will adopt the product as a standard ingredient in premium and super-premium animal nutrition formulas to enhance the immunity system and support digestive health.
To support market demand, Galam has recently decided to invest $30 million (€27.8M) into a new Israel-based production plant, which will “double its production capacity, resulting in additional thousands of tons per year.”
Galam is already present in over 50 countries worldwide, including 8 in Latin America (Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica and Mexico).
GlobalPETS has learnt that the company is now planning to further expand its activities to the rest of the continent.
