Interzoo 2024: what to expect
Just days before the European pet trade fair kicks off in Germany, GlobalPETS examines how it will unveil the latest trends in pet care.
Nuremberg will host a new edition of Interzoo, the leading international trade fair for pet supplies in Europe, from 7 to 10 May 2024.
The organization has confirmed there will be over 2,000 exhibitors present. Most of them (81.2%) will be showcasing products and innovations for dogs and cats. However, there will also be a considerable focus on small animals and rodents (14.1%), aquariums and terrariums (13.3%), ornamental birds (11.6%) and pet food technology (8.4%).
Demographics
Germany will have the largest showcase of exhibitors, followed by China, Italy, the Netherlands, Turkey, the US, Belgium and the UK.
Visitors to the pet trade fair will find several national pavilions: China, Brazil, Canada, the Czech Republic, France, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, the UK and the USA.
Italy (+31%), Poland (+27%) and Turkey (+26%) saw the highest registration rate increase against the previous edition in 2022. According to the organization, exhibitors from the US, India and South Korea have “almost doubled” this year.
Supporting program
In addition to the innovations presented by exhibitors, the event organizers, the Association of Zoological Specialists (WZF) and the German Pet Trade and Industry Association (ZZF), will offer a supporting academic program.
The Sustainability Session will take place on 7 May from 1 pm to 3 pm and will answer retailers’ and manufacturers’ queries about how to make their businesses more sustainable. Visitors can learn about the latest trends and developments in the sector, analyzed through best industry practices.
Interzoo will also host country sessions about the pet industry in different markets. On 8 May, a session will focus on Europe and Brazil, one of the largest South American pet markets. The following day will focus on South Africa and the US.
On 9 May, a Managing Director of a petfluencer agency will lead a social media session with tips to help companies establish brands and expand their online presence in Europe and German-speaking countries.
