Latest M&A deals in veterinary care, diagnostics and pet tech

Bond Vet, Zoetis and VetPartners are among the companies driving a new wave of consolidation across the pet health industry.

Companies across Europe, the US and Asia have announced deals spanning veterinary care, diagnostics, companion animal health and pet technology.

Bond Vet and Small Door Veterinary

New York-based Bond Vet has merged with Small Door Veterinary, forming one of the largest veterinary networks in the US, according to the companies. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The combined entity will operate more than 55 clinics across the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Midwest regions, serving over 500,000 pets. Both brands will continue operating independently in the near term, with plans to integrate their operations gradually over time.

Florent Peyre, co-founder and CEO of Small Door, will lead the merged business, while Small Door’s Chief Medical Officer Jamie Richardson will oversee clinical operations and medical standards across the network.

Founded in 2018, Small Door Veterinary operates 13 membership-based clinics across New York, Boston and Washington, DC, offering preventive care, dentistry, surgery and telemedicine.

Bond Vet provides primary, urgent, dental and surgical care, wellness services, vaccinations and international health certificates through more than 45 clinics.

Zoetis

Zoetis is expanding its diagnostics network with the acquisition of VitalRADS, a veterinary teleradiology platform. The agreement was signed in mid-July and is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals.

VitalRADS offers mobile ultrasound, outpatient imaging for dogs and cats, cloud image storage and teleradiology services. The platform provides 24/7 access to specialists who interpret digital radiographs, electrocardiograms (ECGs), computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans from more than 25 species.

The business serves more than 1,800 active customers, including corporate and independent clinics and universities. By integrating the acquired company into its Global Diagnostics portfolio, Zoetis aims to strengthen diagnostic imaging capabilities.

“VitalRADS helps veterinarians identify conditions faster, inform clinical decision-making and guide treatment plans,” says Jamie Brannan, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at Zoetis.

VetPartners

Medivet has sold its Spanish operations to VetPartners, a UK-based veterinary group. The transaction is subject to approval by the Spanish competition authority.

The acquisition will add 46 clinics to the group’s network. According to VetPartners, it will enhance its ability to invest in continuing professional development (CPD), innovation, professional growth and clinical excellence.

“We believe this represents an opportunity to further strengthen the veterinary profession in Spain and continue building an organization that better supports veterinary professionals, practices and the families who trust us with the care of their pets,” the company says.

Viyash Scientific

Indian pharmaceutical company Viyash Scientific, through its subsidiary Alivira Animal Health, has acquired Italy-based pet healthcare firm BioForLife (BFL) for $19.5 million (€17M) to expand its European footprint.

The acquisition, which is expected to close in the second quarter of fiscal year 2027, will enable Viyash to launch new products from Alivira’s pipeline in Italy while expanding BFL’s portfolio across Alivira’s markets in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Latin America.

Based in Milan, BFL specializes in the development, commercialization and distribution of pet healthcare products and has a presence in more than 80% of veterinary clinics in the country.

“The combination of BioForLife’s commercial reach and Alivira’s product development capabilities creates a compelling opportunity to accelerate growth, expand our companion animal portfolio and deliver greater value to veterinarians, pet owners and partners across markets,” says Haribabu Bodeputi, Managing Director and Group CEO of Viyash Scientific.

“We also see meaningful opportunities to introduce innovative products into India and other geographies through our global reach,” he adds.
