Mars Petcare appoints new VP to lead R&D strategy in North America

Alex Cedeno oversaw Research & Development (R&D) activities at J. M. Smucker Company for more than 7 years.
In his new role, Cedeno will help enhance the pet nutrition business in the region through “disruption and innovation.”
He will also provide strategic and operational leadership to R&D across quality and food safety, product, process and packaging innovation, renovation and productivity, sustainability, and regulatory and scientific affairs.
“R&D continues to transform the way we deliver on pet health through food and I’m looking forward to partnering with the team to accelerate our pet nutrition growth aspirations,” claimed Cedeno.
He will also be an active asset in the development of an innovation pipeline for the company’s pet nutrition brands.
Cedeno holds a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin. He worked for less than a year as R&D vice-president for Big Heart Pet Brands and started his professional career at Procter & Gamble in 1994 in Poland, staying with the company until 2009.
The appointment follows the retirement of Michel Oostwal, Senior Vice President of R&D for Mars Pet Nutrition North America.
