Midwestern Pet Foods voluntarily recalls pet food products

Due to a possible Salmonella health risk, the US-based Midwestern Pet Foods voluntarily recalled certain lots of 140 different pet food products.

A routine sampling program identified the possibility of these products being contaminated with Salmonella.

Recalled dog and cat foods include the company’s CanineX, Earthborn Holistic, Venture, Unrefined, Sportmix Wholesomes, Pro Pac, Pro Pac Ultimates, Sportstrail, Sportmix and Meridian brands. These products were distributed online and through brick-and-mortar retail across the United States.

All other Midwestern Pet Foods brands are unaffected by this recall, stated the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The pet food company is working with the FDA to conduct the recall.
