MWC 2025 highlights the future of pet connectivity

The Mobile World Congress taking place in Barcelona this week highlights the growing demand for smart pet technology.
The Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025, which is taking place this week in Barcelona, Spain is an annual event that brings together top global tech companies to showcase “the latest advancements in mobile technology, devices and services.”
Several new pet technology-focused products have been announced in this edition, including AI-powered trackers to communication devices. GlobalPETS takes a look.
SATELLAI’s satellite-powered pet tracker
On 3 March, SATELLAI introduced its satellite-powered pet tracker to the European market. This device combines satellite connectivity with AI-driven features to help pet owners track their pets’ locations live, even in areas without traditional cellular coverage.
The SATELLAI Tracker allows for the continuous monitoring of pets and provides insights into their location, health and activity. It pairs with a smartphone app that provides users with updates and alerts about their pets’ whereabouts and health.
This tracker represents a step forward in satellite-based tracking, addressing traditional GPS systems’ limitations and expanding the range of pet monitoring options available.
The company says that the device is designed to bring “piece of mind” by ensuring dogs are always on the parent’s radar and “never” beyond their reach.
UCloudlink’s connectivity solutions for pets
Tech company UCloudlink, alongside its subsidiary, digital lifestyle brand GlocalMe, unveiled new products to improve connectivity for Internet of Things (IoT) devices, including those used in pet care.
The company has been focused on establishing more reliable and efficient connections for pet-related technologies. This includes improved communication between pet monitoring devices like health trackers, activity monitors and mobile applications.
GlocalMe’s PetPhone
GlocalMe introduced its PetPhone at MWC, a first-ever ‘smartphone’ designed to enable communication between pet owners and their pets.
By connecting to traditional mobile networks, the PetPhone allows owners to call their pets and monitor their activities through a smartphone app.
This gives pet parents a direct line of communication with their pets while on the go, potentially easing concerns about dogs with separation anxiety or ensuring your cat’s well-being while you’re out or away.
