The Pack becomes the EU’s first plant-based pet food firm to be B Corp certified
The British start-up shares its plans with GlobalPETS to expand its product portfolio and enter the EU.
Vegan dog food company The Pack has become B Corp certified, a designation that a business meets high standards of verified performance, accountability, and transparency. According to the business, it is the first plant-based pet food company to obtain this certification.
“In this era of greenwashing and spurious claims by many companies in the pet food space, it was important that The Pack became a B Corp to demonstrate to consumers that we are truly committed to sustainability and good governance,” says Co-Founder Judy Nadel.
Nadel added that the company looks forward to “setting the standards in sustainability in pet food for years to come.”
In a conversation with GlobalPETS, The Pack’s other Co-Founder, Damien Clarkson, said they are “constantly analyzing” their supply chain to see where they can make positive changes to minimize their impact on the planet.
2024 outlook
The Pack, which operates in the UK with its wet and dry plant-based pet food portfolio, expects to expand into Europe by “early Q1 2024.” Clarkson shares that setting up a European base “is going to be an exciting new chapter for our company.”
The company also plans to launch new treats next year and move beyond being a direct-to-consumer (DTC) business.
Clarkson highlighted an increased interest from major retailers toward packing their pet aisles with “highly innovative plant-based products,” which The Pack hopes to leverage in its goal to become a major UK pet retailer.
The Pack secured £835,000 (€963,000/$1 billion) in seed funding earlier this year.
