Globally we are hit by the Corona virus. Pet food is declared in nearly all countries as essential products. It means that pet shops can stay open.
It is good news that pet shops can stay open, due to the fact that pet food is experienced as essential products. On the contrary consumers are discovering that the online channels are save and convinence solutions in case of a lock down. For the longrun it could mean that they stay loyal to these cannels as the crisis is over.
Amazon is benbefiting from these trend and hired ten thousands of extra staff to handel the operations. On the otherhand they are limiting exporting non essential products to certain countries. They are also exclding pet products from it.
All in all positive news for the industry. The big question is if manufactuers are able to ship their products cross boarder? Or will it pave the way for national producers?
