Pet pampering on the rise in the UK: Survey highlights top trends for 2025

Over half of respondents admit they prioritise their pet’s needs over others in the household.
New research from pet insurance provider ManyPets highlights the growing emphasis pet owners in the UK are placing on their pets’ happiness, with nearly two-thirds (64%) of dog owners stating that their pet’s happiness is more important than their own.
The survey, conducted with 2,000 dog owners in the UK, reveals that 88% believe their pets deserve care comparable to that of humans. In contrast, nearly half (48%) say they even prioritize their pet’s needs over those of other household members.
Maintaining regular care routines has become a crucial aspect of pet ownership for many people, with 83% of respondents participating in daily pet pampering.
Key trends in pet care for 2025
Among the pet care trends anticipated to grow in 2025, ManyPets identified bathing pets (71%), regularly buying new toys (64%), celebrating pet birthdays (54%), allowing their pets a dedicated space on the couch (43%) and including pets at mealtime by setting a place at the table for them (31%).
Pet comfort is also a priority, particularly during colder months, with almost 1 in 6 owners using blankets for warmth and over two-thirds providing a dedicated duvet.
The survey also highlighted that pet bedtime routines have grown, with two-thirds of households brushing fur (40%) and teeth (26%) before bed.
Financial commitment to pet care
Spending trends reflect pet owners’ commitment to their pets, with 61% of owners allocating up to £100 ($123.41/€119.76) per month on pet grooming, an industry that is projected to total £17.8 billion ($21.7B/€21B) in 2025.
Despite these figures, only half of pet owners will invest the same amount of money on their own hair care needs.
Beyond the home, pet care trends have also influenced travel choices. Over half (59%) of dog owners prefer domestic travel so they can bring their pets with them, while nearly half (48%) pack a dedicated travel bag for their companion.
Additionally, 18% of owners have arranged premium and first-class travel for their dogs.
The ManyPets study highlights that as this trend of increased spending and pet humanization continues, pet care is becoming an increasingly significant aspect of daily life in the UK.
