Riyadh to host largest pet food factory in Middle East

Saudi Arabian manufacturer Delicious Food Factory received the support of the government amid rising pet food demand across the region.

Delicious Food Factory (DFF), a Saudi Arabian pet food manufacturer, has announced the construction of a new 55,000-square-meter pet food factory north of the capital, Riyadh.

The company claims it will be the largest pet food facility in the Middle East with an expected annual production capacity of 100,000 tons.

DFF Chairman Saud Al Suhaimi explains to GlobalPETS that none of the countries in the region has a pet food facility with such a production scale in both dry and wet pet food.

With the ability to cater to products for commercial to super premium ranges, the facility will serve the manufacturer’s existing dry cat food brands, Horayra and Purevet, and dry dog food label Kulaib. DFF also aims to produce private label pet food.

The construction of the facility is expected to be completed by late 2026.

Boosting the regional economy

GlobalPETS learned that the factory’s primary objectives are contributing to the country’s local gross domestic product (GDP) and promoting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, a strategic framework to transform the economy and open the country to the world.

“DFF should serve the whole Middle East market and is expected to get a good market share from this market as Saudi products are well trusted in terms of quality and convenience of logistics in the neighboring countries,” says the company.

The pet food manufacturer is actively working to secure partnerships with “leading international players” to manufacture products under their brands, aiming to enhance logistical efficiency for their operations across the Middle Eastern pet food market.

Government support

The 2020-founded company has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Fisheries Development Program (NFDP) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with the aim to drive sustainable progress in the pet food industry.

According to Euromonitor, the pet care market in Saudi Arabia was worth $89.7 million (€80.5M) in 2020. In 2023, the industry jumped to $137.7 million (€123.6M).
