Round-up: New retail distribution partnerships in the pet industry

Pet industry players have recently announced expansions to their retail distribution networks.

From e-commerce ventures to strategic retail agreements, new retail collaborations aim to bring pet products to a wider audience. Here’s a round-up of the latest developments in the industry.

New food brands at Petco Mexico

US-based Petco has struck a deal with Spanish food brand Alinatur. The company confirmed that it has partnered with Petco Mexico to place its Bravery premium pet food brand on retail shelves.

The company’s natural-branded meat-based dog and cat food is sold at Petco’s Mexican stores and via its website.

Prices for bags of pet food range from around MX$500 ($25/€23) for a 2-kilogram bag to MX$1,800 ($90/€83) for a 12-kilogram bag.

Grubhub delivering pet products

The American delivery app now serves Pet Supplies Plus and Wag N’ Wash products. The brands sell thousands of food items and supplies that can now be delivered to consumers’ homes.

“For pet owners, this partnership creates a seamless shopping experience, providing owners with access to a wide variety of pet products with the convenience and quality of on-demand home delivery,” says Craig Whitmer, Grubhub’s Vice President of New Verticals.

Pets are a new category for Grubhub, but Pet Supplies Plus is not the first retailer to distribute through the company. The firm announced a similar deal with PetSmart in late 2024.

Jinx launches on Amazon

American premium dog food brand Jinx recently launched its products on Amazon, expanding its e-commerce offerings. The company’s kibble, wet food, treats and meal toppers are now available on the US e-commerce company’s platform.

“We couldn’t be more excited to launch in Amazon stores,” says Jinx President Richard Kyle Banahan.

“E-commerce is such a pivotal touchpoint in the pet category, and we are honored to forge this relationship with one of the leading retailers in this space.”

New distributor for Austin and Kat

Austin and Kat, a holistic pet supplement producer, has partnered with distributor Right Way Reps, a family-owned pet industry sales rep group.

The New York-based firm represents several small pet food brands across the United States.

“Austin and Kat is a brand we can proudly serve with a strong company ethos and a focus on helping pets live their very best life to the fullest,” says Adam Jacobson, President and Co-Founder of Right Way Reps.

Austin and Kat recently passed a rigorous quality certification and will continue to distribute simultaneously with other regional companies, including Nelson Wholesale Service and Independent Pet Supply.
