Symrise opens new production facilities in France and Brazil
The German company strengthens its presence in Latin America and opens a dry pet food pilot production site in Europe. These are the details.
Symrise has announced in recent days 2 new production developments across its network.
The Holzminden-based company inaugurated a new 10,000 square-meter production facility in Chapéco, southern Brazil, for the production of liquid and powder palatants for local and international markets.
According to the company, this new state-of-the-art plant contributes “towards enhancing the pet food industry’s standards.”
“We faced the challenge of constructing an extraordinary factory capable of serving the dynamically growing local market and also the global market,” says Fernando Putrino, General Manager of Pet Food at Symrise Brazil.
Rising demand
The new factory adds to the existing plant that the company has in Descalvado, in the state of São Paulo.
According to Symrise, the opening of the new factory will triple its production capacity for pet food palatants in Brazil in preparation for rising demand in the region and other Latin American markets.
Earlier in the year, the German company said that it was aiming for further international expansion of the business. Symrise’s Latin American business across its different divisions contributed to €323.5 million ($344.2M) in sales, representing a growth of 19%.
Pilot production in France
Symrise also added a dry pet food pilot production site in Elven, France. The new establishment allows experts to study the dry food production process and the impact of pet food palatability as well as pet nutrition.
The pilot concept will cover the whole production process from raw material preparation to coating and drying.
“From an R&D perspective, this new facility brings additional possibilities for our teams. They can directly study the kibble matrix and its production process,” says Alexis Peuto, Innovative Technology R&D Manager at Symrise Pet Food.
With this latest addition, Symrise says it can deliver a “comprehensive overview” of the pet food market ecosystem.
