Tech giants enter pet care field with specialized home appliances
Samsung and LG Electronics have launched devices to reach pet parents looking to improve the cleaning of the house and their animals’ wellbeing.
South Korean companies Samsung and LG have recently launched numerous home appliance devices to help take care of pets.
Samsung’s SmartThings Pet Care aims to “create a personalized environment for any pet through connected home devices.” It comes complete with a range of devices, such as a home air conditioner that can set the optimal room temperature according to the pet species, and an air purifier that can effectively clean pet hair.
To help maintain a clean and healthy home, the JetBot 90 AI+ vacuum cleaner offers a “pet care” feature to capture pet hair.
The technological giant also promoted the Galaxy SmartTag, a device for locating pets when fixed to their collars, using Bluetooth technology.
In addition, back in February LG introduced a washer and a dryer that comes with pet care cycles to remove allergens from their clothing. According to the company, the TROMM washer, dryer, mini washer and wash tower are also efficient at eradicating pet-related stains and odors.
Ryu Jae-chul, head of LG’s home appliance and air solutions division, recently explained that the company is looking to “offer new consumer experiences with products that become smarter, newer and more comfortable as time goes by.”
Industry insiders agree that both companies will expand further in the near future their offer in the segment in order to reach the growing number of pet owners.
