TerraCycle partners with pet food suppliers
TerraCycle, Whiskas and James Wellbeloved have partnered to create a free recycling programme for all pet food plastic packaging and flexible plastic bag
The programme operates through a network of private and public drop-off locations throughout the UK. The partnership invites any individual, company, charity or school, to deposit pet food plastic pouches and flexible plastic bags at an existing public drop-off location, or set up a public drop-off location by creating an account.
The pet food plastic pouches & flexible plastic bags collection then entitles particpants to earn points that can be redeemed into financial donations to a school or charity of choice.
FUR THE PLANET
Whiskas is the leading partner of the first European Pet Food Recycling Programme, and the cat food giant has committed keeping its products packaging as environmentally friendly as possible.
TerraCycle is the world leader in the collection and reuse of non-recyclable post-consumer waste through its partnerships with brands and products with packaging that can’t be recycled by municipal systems, and which would otherwise end up in landfill or incinerated.
TerraCycle’s goal is to ‘eliminate the idea of waste’ by recycling the waste packaging with the materials being repurposed as new products.
More than 80 million people are collecting globally with TerraCycle and over 4.1 billion pieces of waste have been diverted from landfill and incineration to date, raising over £16m (€18m) for schools, charities or non-profit organisations around the world.
James Wellbeloved has committed that all packaging will be 100% recyclable by 2025 and works with other industry partners and workgroups to help reach this goal.
TerraCycle’s clients include worldwide household names such as IKEA, Wal-Mart, Coca-Cola and CamelBak, to name a few.
All TerraCycle partners remain committed to ensuring that their products maintain their high quality and brand visibility.
