These are the new B Corp-certified pet companies

Lintbells (UK), Zesty Paws and Solid Gold (US) and Agronutris (France) have been recognized for their sustainability efforts.

British pet supplement manufacturer Lintbells recently earned the coveted B Corp status for its sustainably made, low-carbon pet products. The company scored an overall 85.6 for its environmental, social and governance efforts.

The company says it is committed to making “a positive pawprint” for pets, people and the planet and sourcing high-quality and more sustainable ingredients.

“B Corp certification is a testament to our commitment to continuously carry these [core social and environmental] values forward and deliver not only a profitable business but ensure we meet the needs and expectations of all stakeholders,” comments General Manager Warren Rickard.

The company reports having mapped its direct carbon emissions (Scope 1), as well as consequential emissions (Scope 2 and 3) across its supply chain. Lintbells says it is exploring recyclable blister packs to reach its 100% recyclable packaging goal by 2025 and 100% sustainably sourced ingredients by 2027.

Zesty Paws and Solid Gold

Pet supplement brand Zesty Paws and pet nutrition company Solid Gold, owned by H&H Group, have also joined the B Corp club with an overall score of 99.3.

Pascale Laborde, Chief Growth and Sustainability Officer at H&H Group, says that its choice of raw materials and manufacturing partners contributed to achieving the certification. “It is a validation of what we stand for,” he adds.

As part of its key efforts, Zesty Paws has been recognized for its sustainable packaging, including transitioning to tamper-evident, recyclable jars and tear-away master cases for retailers. This initiative is said to eliminate waste and repacking from distributors to consumers.

Agronutris

French biotech company Agronutris, which specializes in rearing and preparing black soldier flies (BSF) for the pet food market, secured its B Corp certification with an overall score of 94.1.

“We are building a collaborative culture based on shared governance and freedom and aim to create relationships of transparency and trust with stakeholders,” says company Co-Founder Mehdi Berrada, adding that they believe these are the ingredients for sustainable performance.
