Wellness Pet Company achieves the highest PSC membership tier

The organization’s Icon level values the “deepening commitment” to the sustainability of the Massachusetts-based firm.

Wellness Pet Company has been welcomed as an Icon member of the Pet Sustainability Coalition (PSC), a nonprofit organization working to transport the pet industry through sustainability innovations.

The Icon membership is the highest level, and it consists of leaders transforming the pet industry. They invest in PSC to help advance their company’s environmental and social performance and work on resolving major systemic issues within the pet industry.

Wellness Pet Company, which has been part of PSC’s Guardian-level membership since 2020, has joined 8 other brands in their commitment to creating a sustainable world for pets and the planet.

“As an accredited member of PSC, they have demonstrated a transparent commitment to measure, verify, and continuously improve their environmental and social impact,” said Anne Klein, PSC’s Director of Member Services.

Sustainable ingredients and packaging

Through the partnership, Wellness’ engagement will help PSC advance its work toward sourcing sustainable ingredients and packaging.

Wellness Pets has previously displayed its dedication to social sustainability through a partnership with TerraCycle to reduce the amount of packaging in landfills and switch to recyclable packaging by 2025. Plans include leveraging solar technology, minimizing food waste at manufacturing facilities, and focusing on social impact initiatives such as volunteering, fundraising, and fostering employee wellness.

“We believe that the mutual well-being of pets and their parents is intrinsically linked to environmental and social responsibility. That’s why, from our packaging to our plants and our people, we do our part to ensure the well-being of our planet,” concluded Greg Kean, Global VP of Innovation & Product Development at Wellness Pet Company.
