What we know about The Nutriment Company entering the Spanish market

The Swedish player recently acquired pet food manufacturer Puromenu. GlobalPETS has the details.

The Nutriment Company (TNC) recently announced its takeover of Puromenu, a Spanish raw pet food company. This is the company’s third acquisition in 2025.

TNC says this recent move fits its expansion strategy of entering high-growth regions. While the company did not share where it would offer Puromenu products, being part of a larger European group could help expand the raw food brand into new markets.

According to TNC, the merger is expected to broaden its product offerings and “provide a one-stop shop for large and small retailers, who will now get access to more TNC products in one single shipment.”

Brands under the company’s umbrella continue operating, though it’s unclear how independent Puromenu will remain.

Its founders, Magda Kayali and Raúl Zamorano, expressed confidence in the plan. “TNC shares our vision for pet nutrition, and together, we can strengthen our impact in the market and continue to push the boundaries of what pets deserve in their diet,” they say.

Statista predicts that Spain’s pet food market is expected to bring in in €2.16 billion ($2.24B) in 2025.

100% natural ingredients

Puromenu, based in Guadalajara, creates dog and cat food primarily based on meat. The company markets its products as 100% natural, both in their ingredients and production process. Its frozen meat products, which can be found online and in stores, contain vegetable ferments and probiotics.

It was founded in 2014 and, according to TNC, has “experienced rapid growth” in recent years.

The Swedish firm owns 17 brands across Europe, each operating in the natural food category. It recently added UK-based pet food brands The Dog’s Butcher and Your Pet Nutrition to its portfolio.
