Zooplus signs contract to improve technology in Central Europe warehouse

The European online retailer has appointed GXO Logistics to launch a new automated fulfillment center amid demand increase.

The multi-year contract with the logistics provider includes designing, implementing, and managing a new automated fulfillment center in Bor (Czech Republic), 140 km from Prague.

The Munich-based company believes that this partnership will help the company meet the current increasing demand for pet food products in Europe and deliver the highest quality service to customers. 

Zooplus increased its sales by 16% in the first half of 2021, from 862.5 million ($974.2M) to 1,002.2 ($1132M). The expenses related to logistics and fulfillment accounted for 18.5% of the sales in the period. 

According to the European Pet Food Federation (FEDIAF), the market for pet food in the region grew 2.8% to €21.8 billion ($26B) in 2020.
