Zooplus strengthens leadership team to expand its European footprint

The German online pet retailer appoints 2 new members to its Executive Committee.

Anja Honnefelder is joining as Chief People Officer, and Carlo Guagnano becomes the new Chief Sales Officer.

Honnefelder will be responsible for covering people operations, talent acquisition, learning and development, employee engagement, and communications. With the new addition of Honnefelder, the retailer aims to consolidate Zooplus “as the most engaging online destination for pet parents in Europe.”

With her HR and legal experience, she has previously led international teams and served as Chief People & Legal Officer at hotel marketplace Trivago.

Growth and expansion

Guagnano will lead two teams at Zooplus—Central & Regional Sales and Pricing & Promotions—in a bid to accelerate the company’s growth and expand its position as the leading e-commerce pet platform.

He was recently the Director of B2B Europe at American e-commerce company Wayfair. He has also held various commercial leadership roles at Amazon in Luxembourg and Munich and the consulting firm McKinsey & Company in Italy.

Geoffroy Lefebvre, CEO of Zooplus, says he is delighted to welcome to the company 2 “very experienced e-commerce leaders” in exciting times when pet care in Europe is shifting online.
