The pet retail group increased its sales by 19.8% against 2020 with a strong performance in the online channel and the German market.
Fressnapf announced in a trading update that they posted an additional €500 million ($566.35M) in sales compared to the previous year, the most significant growth in more than 3 decades of the company’s history.
Germany (€1.81B, $2B) accounted for more than half of the total gross sales of €3.17 billion ($3.59B).
The company said that double-digit growth was also achieved in the other 10 countries where their products are present, accounting for €1.36 billion ($1.54B).
It believes this is a sign that the group remains “on the road” to international success. This includes expanding Fressnapf’s international network by more than 100 locations, which will be developed further in the future.
According to the company, the performance in the online channel exceeded the expectations for the year. In 2021 it increased by 54% due to the expansion and consolidation of the company presence in this channel.
“This result reflects our claim to delight our customers with an optimal shopping experience across all channels,” said new Managing Director Johannes Steegmann, that started in the job at the beginning of the year.
The company also said that the opening of new warehouses in Poland and France represented a shorter delivery time for customers in Europe.
Fressnapf Group posted annual sales of € 2.65 billion ($3B) in 2020, an increase of 15.2% against the previous year.
