About the company

Martin Sellier, a French company, has been producing pet accessories since 1969. Initially, the company mainly focused on distribution in Europe, but today they are active in 53 countries, with a catalogue of 13,000 SKUs a year. All products are manufactured at several locations in France and Spain.

The philosophy

How did Martin Sellier build its business? It all started with the logo, the butterfly. The butterfly stands for good atmosphere. This means the company builds its business around partnerships. In selecting partners it is not only important that the products are fitting and the figures are okay. No, the most important element is that there is a personal click, the right feeling, a chemistry of ‘yes, we like to do business’ with each other for the long term. Besides that, Martin Sellier likes to work with local partners, wherever they do business. Locals know their country best!

Innovation

Besides these partnerships, Martin Sellier believes in innovation. In today’s world, innovation is the corner stone of long term success. And with innovation the company means real innovation; innovation that is the main incentive of doing business, that goes further than a new collar or packaging. In today’s world, everything is about being and staying connected with the community. Dogs and cats are part of this connected community. Martin Sellier wants to be a mayor member of this community. To be able to fulfill today’s pet owners’ needs, production has to be flexible and has to respond to those needs.

Business ecosystem

The company’s new slogan reveals the aim of Martin Sellier: ‘Play healthy. Live beautifully’. Actually, Martin Sellier is a company working with the business model of the future. Their business model can be seen as a ‘business ecosystem’.  To manage the company according to a business ecosystem means:

  • Collaborate: working with partners and taking their interests into account.
  • Innovate: to be able to innovate effectively time and time again.
  • Educate: share values and culture
  • Inspire: through good products and services.

With respect to employees, it means striking the right balance between male and female employees as well as establishing a multicultural workplace.

And this all comes together in the ‘papillon’.
