Montego Pet Nutrition appoints new supply chain leader
Johann Kotze’s main duties are to optimize and create a standard for the business strategies of the South African manufacturer.
Kotze started in the company less than a year ago, where he led the acquisition of six distribution facilities that helped improve Montego’s delivery and fleet process.
“Having Johann as part of the executive team will improve feedback on the performance of our supply chain and will fast track important decision-making,” said Montego’s Managing Director Johan van Jaarsveld.
According to the pet food manufacturer headquartered in Graaff-Reinet, Johann will also help to form functional teams across different departments.
“My vision is to have a department made up of engaged team players working together in our areas of expertise which will allow us to create the most efficient and streamlined supply chain in Africa,” said Kotze.
Largest manufacturer in the continent
Montego claims to be the largest pet food manufacturer in Africa, operating in 21 countries and responsible for 11% of all exported pet food from South Africa.
It has the capacity to produce 100,000 tons per year and export to 15 countries, of which 13 are on the African continent.
In July 2021, Montego acquired a pet food production facility of 3,000 square meters in Pretoria with the aim to boost its production capacity by 25%. The manufacturer also has a 6,000 meters squared production facility in the Graaff-Reinet in the Eastern Cape, which was subject to an upgrade in 2018, investing $4.25 million.
