PetMeds expands services with insurance offering
The online pet pharmacy joined hands with Pumpkin Insurance to offer insurance services to its customers as part of its “trusted pet health expert” strategy.
According to the Florida-headquartered pet pharmacy, there is a “huge disconnect” between the high number of pets owned and those with an insurance policy.
Matt Hulett, CEO and President of PetMeds Express, said: “By giving our customers direct access to pet insurance, we will be able to greatly assist millions of pet owners in getting quality insurance that helps them care for their pets.”
The New York-based Pumpkin insurance will gain access to 2 million PetMeds customers to provide them with accident and illness insurance and an optional, non-insurance wellness plan.
The company claims its offering will “drive more pets into veterinary clinics for regular preventive exams, diagnostic screenings, and best medicine.”
The partnership marks PetMeds’ third initiative in the last one and a half years, following the investment in Vetster in April 2022, in which PetMeds acquired PetCareRX earlier this year.
