ZippyPaws was created with the mission of bringing fun, interactive, and high-quality toys to dogs and their owners.
Jennifer Cao, co-founder and vice president of ZippyPaws, started the company with her father, Benny Cao, in 2011. The daughter and father duo developed the company with the intention of bringing lively designs to the dog toy industry.
Jen emphasized the fact that until recently, there wasn’t a large variety of toys to choose from. The dynamic duo wanted to design toys that were lively, captured dogs’ attention, and stood out to consumers.
The company’s Squeakie Buddies line was the first developed by Jen and remains a top seller for ZippyPaws today. The idea stemmed from creating a toy that was simple, non-stuffed, and creative.
Some of the unique and fun characters include a moose, a walrus and a beaver. The Squeakie Buddies line feature the company’s Cylindrical Blaster Squeakers, which are larger than the average round squeaker, thus providing a longer, more engaging noise for canines. Squeakers have become something of a specialty for ZippyPaws. A lot of innovation goes into creating its squeakers. The company slogan therefore is ‘a squeakin’ good time’.
In 2014, ZippyPaws was awarded the ‘Best Plush Toy of the Year Award’ for its innovative Jiggler squeaker, which produces noise when shaken from side to side. In addition to the Blaster and Jiggler squeakers, the Crescent squeaker is another crowd favourite. The infamous Zippy Donutz are made with Crescent squeakers, which allows the toys to squeak no matter where you push.
The company’s products are designed with the modern dog in mind. ZippyPaws recently blew up the internet with their Squeakie Emojiz – allowing dogs to be trendy too!
With a notable line-up of toys under its belt, ZippyPaws expanded into outdoor equipment in early 2014. All of the products are made with the intention of promoting a healthier and more active lifestyle for dogs. Before launching the new product line, Jen and her father spent over a year rounding out its selection of outdoor products. It took a while to reveal the adventure gear line to the public because Jen and Benny wanted to make them perfect.
When it comes to adventure gear, the company did not want to compromise quality. Safety is the number one importance.
The company has extended its distribution to many European markets and hopes to expand its international distribution. Beyond growing its product offerings, ZippyPaws is focused on further developing its brand recognition within the industry.
Despite being a relatively small company, ZippyPaws is slowly becoming a regular household name. The future certainly looks bright for this California-based company.
