Amazon plans checkout-free store in UK
Amazon is bringing its first British checkout-free supermarket in London, according to the Times. It reports that the shop could open as soon as this summer and groceries could be supplied by Morrisons.
The 20,000 sq ft. store would use Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology. The technology allows shoppers to walk out without paying as hundreds of cameras, sensors track shoppers and a smartphone app automatically take payment.
Separately, Amazon announced a new business line selling its Just Walk Out technology and has made an initial sale to OTG, which operates over 350 restaurants and retail locations in North American airports.
