APPA appoints new board members

Purina’s VP of Sales in North America, Tommy Baroody, is the new American Pet Products Association chair.

Baroody has over 25 years of experience in consumer products and pet food with Nestlé Purina PetCare, Ralston Purina, and RJR Nabisco (a food products firm). 

He’s held numerous roles centered on leading teams in category management, customer development, and brand portfolio management across several trade channels, including pet specialty, grocery, and mass. 

Baroody has served on APPA’s board for 5 years and has served on boards for the University of Arizona’s Center for Retailing and the Pet Care Trust.

Other members

Wagz CEO and Founder Terry Anderton, and Steve Clark, Chief Revenue Officer at Petmate, have joined the association as new members of the board. 

Anderton has a long history of creating disruptive and forward-thinking technology companies, while Clark has over 11 years of pet supply sector experience.

I look forward to working with them and the rest of the board to deliver on our shared commitment to strengthen the global pet care community and promote responsible pet ownership,” said APPA’s new Chair, Tommy Baroody.

Secretary and treasurer

Jeremy Baker, SVP Business Development and E-commerce at Compana Pet Brands, takes on the role of secretary and treasurer. He brings more than 20 years of consumer-packaged goods leadership experience to the APPA board, where he’s been present since 2019. 

Chuck Latham, the outgoing chair and founder of H&C Animal Health, a marketing agency, will remain as a director on the board.

APPA’s board of directors includes Brett Johnson, Radio Systems; Chanda Leary-Coutu, Wellness Pet Company; Todd Regan, Central Garden & Pet; and Savina Singh, JoJo Modern Pets.
