Arcaplanet targets new Italian regions for expansion, CEO says

The Italian pet retailer plans to focus on flexible store formats and sustainable layouts to strengthen its national presence.
Serving over 2.6 million customers across Italy, Arcaplanet is accelerating its expansion by targeting untapped locations and further investing in its omnichannel strategy.
In an interview with GlobalPETS, CEO Guillaume Seneclauze states that the company’s plans for widespread expansion will unfold in the coming years.
“Our development strategy will focus first and foremost on those parts of Italy where the brand still has room to grow, helping us strengthen our national footprint and stay closer to our customers,” he says.
According to Seneclauze, the company will continue to roll out its sustainable, plastic-free store format after evaluating the potential of different Italian regions and adapting layouts and sizes to available space.
Arcaplanet expects this flexible approach to enable it to explore more compact formats or innovative concept stores that have proven successful in the past, where market conditions allow.
Omnichannel and private label
Alongside footprint expansion, private labels will play a key role in Arcaplanet’s performance strategy, with investments in this segment already underway.
“We are investing in the development of our private label offering, which allows us to strengthen customer loyalty while ensuring better margin optimization,” Seneclauze says.
Additionally, the company is injecting more capital into its omnichannel strategy, its dedicated services business and the ongoing development of digital channels, with the expansion of click & collect coverage.
“By creating a seamless experience across physical and digital touch-points, we aim to raise the average customer spend and ultimately the total margin generated per customer,” the CEO says.
Pricing strategy
Arcaplanet is also implementing a more localized pricing approach and introducing dynamic pricing capabilities. In other words, the company wants to adjust prices to reflect local or industry realities. According to Seneclauze, this move will enable them “to respond more precisely to market conditions and competitive pressures.”
The Italian retailer also wants to move away from “broad, undifferentiated promotions” to targeted initiatives tailored to specific customer clusters, aiming to increase both effectiveness and relevance.
Recent acquisitions
In November 2025, Arcaplanet acquired the pet store chains Hobby Zoo, Green Pet and Miele, which added 10 new points of sale nationwide to their retail network.
They include 5 Hobby Zoo stores across Veneto and Trentino-Alto Adige, the Green Pet store in Verona and 4 locations of Fidomania stores in Marche.
The latest acquisitions brought their total store count to 610. In October, the retailer opened its 600th store in a shopping center in Borgo Panigale, approximately 210 km from Milan.
