Global Veterinary Expo and Pet Expo open in Riyadh with strong industry momentum

Saudi Arabia’s fast-growing veterinary and pet care markets set the tone for this year’s event.
Strong market outlook
Saudi Arabia’s veterinary sector has seen notable growth in recent years, supported by rising awareness of animal health across both companion and production animals.
Reports indicate that the Kingdom’s veterinary market is expected to reach $204 million by 2027, with an annual growth rate of 5%.
The Saudi pet care market is also expanding, estimated at approximately $1.17 billion with an annual growth rate of more than 9%. This market momentum provided a strong backdrop as the fourth edition of the Global Veterinary Expo and the Pet Expo opened in Riyadh.
Opening of the expos
The event officially began on Monday, 24 November 2025, at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center.
It was inaugurated by Dr. Ali AlShaikhi, Assistant Deputy for Livestock and Fisheries and member of the National Livestock and Fisheries Development Program, in the presence of government representatives, leading companies and delegations from several countries.
The opening day highlighted investment opportunities and marked the start of a three-day program focused on veterinary innovation and the expanding pet industry.
The program opened with a ceremonial ribbon cutting and a tour of the exhibition pavilions.
His Excellency the Assistant Deputy attended the opening ceremony where Dr. Rawan Alanazi, Director of the General Animal Health Department at the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, welcomed attendees and delivered her remarks.
Ceremony highlights and new initiatives
The ceremony featured a clip about Awaqf Ummam Amthalakum, the first and only endowment in Saudi Arabia dedicated to animal welfare.
It also included the launch of several digital applications aimed at developing the livestock and veterinary health sectors and advancing technological solutions.
Several cooperation agreements and memoranda of understanding were also signed between the National Livestock and Fisheries Development Program and local and international entities.
These agreements seek to foster innovation, strengthen digital veterinary services, enhance investment in animal-related industries and advance animal welfare services.
Platform for the global veterinary industry
The Global Veterinary Expo and the Pet Expo position themselves as leading platforms for the veterinary industry in Saudi Arabia and internationally.
This year, the expos welcomed exhibitors from 20 countries and 120 local and international companies representing veterinary equipment technologies, veterinary pharmaceuticals, research centers, academic institutions, therapeutic services, public health, disease prevention and animal nutrition.
Activities and industry engagement
The event features more than seven activities, including the International Dog and Cat Grooming Competition aimed at enhancing the skills of breeders and specialists, the “My Pet in My Life” contest promoting animal welfare, the Cat Show offering educational insights into cat breeds and the specialized Grooming Masterclass designed to develop skills and explore global grooming trends.
A range of panel discussions and workshops in veterinary medicine and pet care are also delivered by field experts.
