How concerned are Indian pet parents with home cleanliness?
A survey from household appliances manufacturer Dyson unveils pet parents’ cleaning routines in the country.
Recently released Dyson’s Global Dust Study 2023 reveals that 27% of Indian pet parents consistently clean their houses daily.
According to the data, just a fifth of pet owners (21%) include cleaning pet beds as part of their cleaning routine, as opposed to 55% who pay attention to mattress cleaning.
As many as 42% allow their pets on sofas, unaware of the viruses harbored by pet hair, dandruff and dander, while 34% of respondents admitted allowing their furry friends to sleep on their beds or bedroom floors.
Pet allergens
For more than 4 out of 10 Indian pet owners, accumulated house dust contributes to pet allergens, pollen, and dust mites. An additional 10% feel guilty about neglecting to clean daily.
The survey also found that while half of the global respondents were worried about dust in their homes, only 31% of pet parents prioritized concerns around animal and pet hair when cleaning.
Grooming
India was also found to have the highest proportion of frequent groomers globally, with more than half (58%) of pet owners actively grooming their pets. The Dyson survey unveiled that 47% of this group regularly groomed their pets for the cleanliness of both their pets and homes.
The preferred platforms for Indian pet parents to get cleaning tips were YouTube (79%), followed by personal social circles like friends and family (55%) and Instagram (51%).
