Insect startup hires ex-Colgate leader to optimize product development

Ahmed Hassan joins FlyFeed to build its customer network and assist with company-wide scaling.
He will join the advisory board of the international insect farming tech startup. It plans to start supplying pet food companies with commercial products by 2023.
Hassan will be responsible for overseeing product development and building customer relations with pet food-producing companies. He will also advise on the company’s strategy, and key hires to speed up and enhance the overall scaling process.
“Together, we’ll bring FlyFeed’s relations with the pet food industry to a new level, unleashing the potential of insect products for the benefit of pets’ health,” said CEO Arseniy Olkhovskiy.
Additional 10 farms by 2026
Ahmed Hassan has more than 30 years of experience in FMCG, including working as general manager for Colgate-Palmolive and leading Hills Pet Nutrition’s regional division for six years.
Tallinn-based FlyFeed aims to put into operation its firm farm in Vietnam in 2023 and 10 additional farms in Vietnam, India, and Africa by 2026.
According to the company, each farm is expected to produce 17.5+ thousand short tons of insect products, including insect proteins, fats, and fertilizers, by processing 40,000 tons of organic waste.
