Jollyes sales jumped 31% in December 2022

The UK pet retailer served 38,000 customers in-store on 23 December and completed a sale every 75 seconds.
High demand at the 84 existing stores and the 17 new locations added in 2022 contributed to Jollyes’ significant gains over the festive period. Online sales increased by 23%.
Jollyes revealed that even after exempting new store sales, revenue was up 19% from the previous year and 39% more than Christmas 2020. “December like-for-like growth wasn’t driven by inflation,” it said.
The company registered its highest sales in a day on 23 December, with 38,000 in-store customers making a purchase every 75 seconds, an “all-time high.”
Sale transactions in the last month of 2022 grew by 9.6% against December 2021, even though stores were closed for two peak trading days: Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
Outlook for 2023
In December, Jollyes released its half-year 2023 results leading up to 27 November, noting sales increased by 23% compared to the previous year to £53.2 million (€60.7M).
The company said it was on target to post a £100M (€114M) turnover in 2023 and reach 100 stores in the upcoming 18 months. The pet retailer will open 6 new outlets in the first half of 2023, one opening later this month and another in February.
