Pet Fair Asia is the largest exhibition for the pet industry across Asia-Pacific and one of the largest in the world. Its 26th edition will take place in Shanghai from 21st to 25th August 2024.

Largest scale up to date

Since its first edition, the show has kept a constant y-o-y growth pace, with a particular increase in the international brands’ participation. This year, the show is set to reach the largest scale up to date, covering a total exhibiting area of 300,000 sqm around 17 halls and gathering well over 2500 exhibitors from China and all over the world. 

The finished products exhibited at the show cover the industry at 360 degrees. For the first time, 6 outside halls will be built for the supply chain under Pet Fair Supply area, where over 600 exhibitors will showcase products such as food ingredients, food processing machinery, packaging machinery and equipment, packaging materials and design, testing equipment, label, OEM/OBM/ODM.

Match-making activities

Pet Fair Asia gathers over 100,000 trade visitors from China and more than 80 different countries. The large scale of the show helps international buyers scout a wide range of outsourcing channels, which satisfy any type of product needs and budget. 

The show has recently launched the Hosted Buyer Program, where hand-picked buyers will be assisted with unique hospitality packages and match-making activities. In coordination with exhibitors, international buyers will also be given the opportunity to visit manufacturing sites located nearby Shanghai as well as local pet stores or pet hospitals, to experience first-hand the smart technologies applied in the production process, local market practices as well as consumers’ behaviors and habits. 

Pet population and consumer needs

According to the “Blue Book of the Pet Industry”, an annual report published by apa (Asia Pet Alliance – which acts as the directive body of the show), China’s pet industry saw a compound growth rate of 13.1% during the period 2018-2023, higher than the global average. 

Pet population grew from 170 million to 190 million during the same period and more than half of it is owned by young people aged 25-34. The young age owners create a demand for smart and sophisticated gadgets. 

Long known for innovations and fast adaption of products to the consumption needs and trends, China has already taken the lead in the pet products business as well. All these innovations can be witnessed an experienced at Pet Fair Asia, making it an important hub for the worldwide pet businesses.
