Pet insurance partnerships expand across new channels

Collaborations with digital platforms, retailers, housing providers and pet care businesses are broadening access to coverage.

New business partnerships are bringing insurance closer to pet owners, while opening new growth opportunities across retail, housing, digital and pet care platforms. GlobalPETS has the details.

Healthy Paws and DogPack

American pet insurer Healthy Paws has teamed up with DogPack, a digital platform for dog owners, to integrate pet insurance options into the DogPack app, allowing its users to explore coverage options based on their dog’s profile.

The companies say the collaboration aims to make pet insurance more accessible by integrating it into a platform that dog owners already use for other services.

It also forms part of DogPack’s broader expansion beyond discovery and community features into essential services for pet owners.

Founded in 2021, Montreal-based DogPack combines discovery, community, travel and commerce through its digital platform. It has more than 2.5 million users and features over 200,000 dog-friendly locations across more than 20 countries.

Morrisons and Hood Group

UK supermarket chain Morrisons has entered the insurance market through a partnership with British player Hood Group, launching Morrisons-branded pet and travel products as part of its financial services offering.

The offering provides 3 levels of lifetime cover, underwritten by Burns & Wilcox Global Solutions on behalf of Accredited Insurance UK.

The policies include 24/7 veterinary assistance through the Pet Health Assist line, giving customers access to qualified UK-based veterinary nurses and vets online or by phone.

Foxen and Healthy Paws

The US-based proptech firm Foxen has teamed up with Healthy Paws to offer renters discounted pet insurance and streamlined access to new policies through Foxen’s pet management solution, PetClear.

The AI-enabled platform verifies pet information and collects policy affirmations from rental applicants as part of the leasing process.

The collaboration comes as pet ownership continues to shape renters’ priorities. According to Foxen’s Multifamily Pet Management Trends Report, 93% of property managers surveyed allow pets in their communities, with 94% agreeing that today’s renters place a high value on living with pets.

Healthy Paws’ insurance covers emergency veterinary care for pets, cancer treatment, new accidents and illnesses, as well as hereditary and congenital conditions.

Odie Pet Insurance and Haven Pet Insurance

Both insurers have entered into a strategic partnership to expand access to pet insurance through embedded distribution channels, including multifamily housing operators and animal shelters.

Under the agreement, Haven will offer Odie’s program through its partner network, combining Odie’s established insurance offering with Haven’s distribution-focused model.

The collaboration will enable Haven to embed pet insurance into residential experiences nationwide, while expanding Odie’s reach through its embedded and white-label partner model.
