Scholtus acquires snack activities Teeling Petfood
Since 2007 Scholtus has grown significantly through autonomous growth. In addition to this Scholtus accelerated its growth via the 2011 acquisition of Proline Petfood, a leading supplier of snacks and treats. Over the last years Scholtus invested heavily in the extension of the production capacity. “The acquisition of Teeling’s snack activities significantly strengthens Scholtus’ business and facilitates the next stage expansion of the firm by stepping up the pace for new product concept introductions and accelerating the expansion in new distribution channels”, says Jan Smulders, MD of Scholtus Special Products.
Owner of Teeling Petfood Jan-Jaap Roelevink is pleased with the transaction. ‘’Over the last decade Teeling has built a significant and relevant track record in the production and sales of pet food in various categories, specifically in wet pet food and snacks. However, to stay competitive in the areas where our strengths lie we decided to divest our snack activities. This transaction enables Teeling to intensify our strategic focus on further strengthening our production and sales activities in private label high quality wet pet food’’, says Roelevink.
