Virbac to open a new plant in France
The 12,000 m² facility aims to integrate all steps of pet food production, from raw materials to the finished feed.
The new site will be located in the urban development area of Mitra in Nimes, 20 kilometers away from Virbac’s nutrition site in Vauvert.
The French animal health company believes this new facility will “produce the majority of the needs.” “To accompany the increase in orders, additional extrusion and packaging lines may be added, and a proportion of subcontracting will be retained to absorb fluctuations in demand,” it said.
Virbac’s CEO, Sébastien Huron, said that amid the increasing volumes of pet food the company needs to produce, “it is essential” to implement a set of key measures. This includes direct control of the supply of raw materials and the entire production chain, guaranteeing quality, optimizing costs, and accelerating innovation and market launch.
The news comes shortly after Virbac announced that it registered revenue of €616.4 million in the first six months of 2022, a growth of 16.4%.
