The independent retailer, with more than 60 stores, has received strategic investment from a Seattle-based private equity firm.
Rainier’s investment will help accelerate the company’s e-commerce capabilities and expand its brick-and-mortar presence. The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 1986 by Michael Levy and Mark Witriol, Pet Food Express is an independent pet retailer that operates in 60 stores. The company partners with more than 300 non-profit animal rescue and shelter organizations, supporting them through fundraising and product donations.
