Evermore Pet Food earns welfare certificate

The New-York based manufacturer believes that this recognition from the Global Animal Partnership (GAP) will help “elevate standards” within the industry.

The welfare certificate has been issued by one of the largest animal welfare food labeling programs in North America for all the company’s poultry-based formulas.

“We have exclusively sourced GAP-certified poultry since 2015 and have been so singularly focused on making the best and highest welfare food possible that we haven’t taken the steps to be certified ourselves,” claimed co-founder Alison Blumberg.

Blumberg believes that now it is time to work together to raise awareness among pet food manufacturers.

GAP’s certification uses third-party certifiers to audit every farm and verify compliance every 15 months. This helps to enable continued improvements in farmed animal welfare by using species-specific standards.

Founded in 2009, Evermore Pet Food offers gently cooked and human-grade pet food products, including fresh/frozen formulas.

Earlier this year the manufacturer also adopted the Better Chicken Commitment from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty (ASPCA).
