Ferplast takes over Hydor

Ferplast, the Italian pet accessories company, dives into the world of aquariums with its most recent acquisition.

Mr Bresolin founded Hydor in 1984. The Italian company is specialized in the design and production of high-tech filters, pumps and heaters.

Ferplast has big ambitions and is planning to relaunch the company’s production and distribution with even greater strength.

“We are proud and happy about this new acquisition, because of the high quality and technology levels achieved by Hydor, a company we have always respected and that fits perfectly with Ferplast’s entrepreneurial spirit, which has always been focused on innovation and improving its products.” Says Nicola Vaccari, CEO of Ferplast. “It won’t be an easy challenge because the entire sector needs strong support through reliable and technologically advanced products. Consumers need to fall back in love with the fascinating world of the underwater”.

Ferplast first entered the world of aquariology in 2004 with a complete range of glass aquariums and technical components of its own production. “This is a project that I personally managed as soon as I joined the company”, continues Nicola Vaccari, “so expanding and bringing innovation to this sector is something I am particularly passionate about”.

After the acquisition of Marchioro Sas at the end of 2020, the company continues to expand and records double-digit turnover growth.

In 2020, Ferplast recorded a 12.5% increase in turnover compared to the previous year, while in the first half of 2021 the increase reached 35%. 85% of this turnover comes from exporting its products. And while digital sales channels are growing, the traditional offline channel remains the dominant one.
