Fifth deal: The Nutriment Company deepens German footprint with new acquisition

The Swedish company has added raw pet food producer Graf Barf to its portfolio.
The Nutriment Company (TNC), one of Europe’s largest suppliers of natural, premium pet nutrition, has announced the acquisition of Graf Barf, a raw pet food producer, from the current owner CDS Hackner.
Building on what TNC describes as a “strong start” to the second quarter of 2025, the Stockholm-based group’s latest acquisition aims to establish a new frozen logistics hub to serve the European market.
“We’re thrilled to welcome the talented team at Graf Barf into the TNC family. Their commitment to quality and consistency has been evident from day one, and their decades of experience with frozen logistics and production will help elevate our operational standards to new levels,” says CEO Anders Kristiansen.
According to the company, the acquisition will not only strengthen its geographic footprint in Germany, where it already markets brands such as Barfgold, DIBO, Nutriment and AniForte, but will also serve as a foundation for further growth into Switzerland and Austria.
European distribution center
TNC expects this combined expertise in raw pet food production and cold logistics to accelerate the “raw feeding movement” among pet owners both in Germany and beyond.
Graf Barf’s production facility in from Crailsheim (120 km west of Stuttgart) will become TNC’s central distribution center for Europe, supporting a multi-brand, one-stop shop offering across mainland Europe.
“We are excited to become TNC’s central logistics hub for Europe from our Crailsheim location and are ready to integrate Graf Barf into the TNC brand portfolio, passionately supporting the brand’s continued growth,” says Michael Hackner, CEO and owner of CDS Hackner.
5 acquisitions so far
TNC has pursued an ambitious expansion strategy, completing 4 other acquisitions across key European markets in 2025.
In Germany, TNC acquired BAF Petfood from Fressnapf, gaining direct access to the giant’s extensive network of company-owned and franchise retail outlets.
The player also entered the Spanish market through the purchase of Puromenu, broadening its geographic reach beyond Central Europe.
In the UK, TNC strengthened its position by acquiring Bulmer Pet Foods, a supplier of frozen raw dog food, natural treats and accessories, and The Dog’s Butcher, a raw dog food brand known for its focus on locally sourced ingredients and product range.
