Pet products in the UK rose more than 8% in the last 12 months
June’s Consumer Prices Index recorded the highest ever annual inflation rate in the country.
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) revealed that British consumers are now paying 8.4% more for pet products and services than they were in 2021.
In just one month, from May to June 2022, the prices of pet products increased by 1.1%. In the first 6 months of the year, prices for the category have shown an accumulated rise of 5.4%.
The pet category is slightly below the global Consumer Prices Index (CPI), which reached a yearly growth of 9.4% in June.
Recent figures from Kantar show that British families will face a £380 (€445) increase in average annual grocery bills. Butter, milk and pet food are among the biggest rises over the past year, according to the figures.
