US government grant to benefit Purina operations in North Carolina
A $1.5 million funding to the city of Eden will help provide water service for the pet food manufacturer to expand operations.
The grant, awarded by the US Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA), will boost the capacity for business development in the city by refurbishing its sewer treatment facility.
“We provided the grant to the city of Eden to improve their sewer treatment facility, which will provide the capacity to support the expansion of the pet food manufacturing facility,” an EDA spokesperson told GlobalPETS.
Repeated requests to Purina for comment went unheard.
The pet food company invested an estimated $450 million (€421M) in the Eden facility in 2020. It is located on 1,300-plus acres near the border of North Carolina and Virginia.
