Zolotaya | Russia

Zolotaya Rybka, one of the founders of the Russian pet market, is a company that ticks all the boxes.

A long history

Nina Gogunts, founder and owner of Zolotaya Rybka (The Gold Fish), opened a small shop in St. Petersburg in 1991 where she started selling pets and pet products. By 1993, the company had transformed into a wholesaling and retailing outfit. Today, it is one of the largest and best known suppliers of pet products in Russia that caters for all pet care needs.

The Zolotaya Rybka Group comprises a large wholesaler, a wide range of own brand pet products and its own delivery vehicles that deliver to more than 700 wholesalers and retailers throughout western Russia. The group has a retail chain of 28 stores in the St. Petersburg area, and owns fully computerised warehousing facilities measuring 2,000 sqm.

Working with foreign companies

Zolotaya Rybka has been importing foreign pet products since 1996. It has dozens of partners in various European countries, Canada and China. One of its successful partnerships is that with Canadian pet food company Nutram which, thanks to its alliance with Zolotaya Rybka, has gained popularity in Russia within a short time.

Production

The company has been producing pet products under its own brands since 2000. Some are manufactured in its own production facilities in St. Petersburg, while others are made in facilities in Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, Italy, Canada and China.

Professional partner

Zolotaya Rybka is one of the leaders on the Russian pet product market. This is first and foremost due to its highly professional staff, all of whom, from sales staff to managers, regularly update their training at the company’s training centre, the only one of its kind in the Russian pet industry. Secondly, the company upholds a high standard of service and, thirdly, it keeps abreast of the latest marketing and management techniques. For example, the Zolotaya Rybka chain was the first in Russia to introduce category management.
