Pet Fair Asia 2025 opens visitor registration
With almost 90% of the exhibiting space already booked, Asia’s largest pet show is set to host another robust edition in Shanghai from 20 to 24 August 2025.
A record-breaking year sets the tone
After a record-breaking edition held in August 2024, Pet Fair Asia will return strong again this year, featuring over 2,500 exhibitors showcasing the most groundbreaking innovations in the pet industry across a vast exhibiting area exceeding 300,000 sqm.
In 2024, the show attracted over 124,000 trade visitors from 91 different countries, marking the highest attendance to date.
Strategic importance in a shifting landscape
Pet Fair Asia represents a crucial opportunity for professionals in the industry, particularly in light of the current complex trade landscape.
During such times, trade platforms serve as vital hubs for industry players seeking business opportunities in new markets, identifying new cost-effective outsourcing channels, gaining insights into recent dynamics, and anticipating what the future may hold.
“China remains a key market for both manufacturing and consumption in the pet industry,” stated David Zhong, President and Founder of Pet Fair Asia.
“While many Chinese and Asian companies participate in international trade shows around the world, the scale and depth of innovation showcased at Pet Fair Asia are truly unmatched. Our event provides a unique opportunity for a global audience to experience this firsthand, on a large scale.
As China continues to strengthen its ties with emerging markets, our show acts as a gateway to nearby regions, facilitating companies’ diversification and long-term growth. Our distinctive portfolio of events serves the pet industry as a platform with extensive outreach across the Asia Pacific,” concluded Zhong.
Innovation across the entire industry
The 17 halls at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) will be fully occupied by companies presenting a comprehensive range of products covering every sector of the pet industry.
Attendees can explore offerings including pet food, supplies, accessories, healthcare and medication, veterinary services, grooming, clothing, technology (such as apps), and more.
Key segments: supply chain and veterinary
Pet Fair Asia SUPPLY will feature 600 exhibitors showcasing the latest innovations in the supply chain across seven dedicated outdoor halls.
Pet Fair Veterinary will span an impressive 30,000 sqm, bringing together over 700 brands focused on pet healthcare, veterinary equipment, and medical solutions.
This area will offer a thorough overview of current advancements in pet medicine, making it a vital destination for industry professionals looking to stay ahead in veterinary care.
Leading brands and global presence
Major players such as Acana, ADM, Blue Buffalo, Boehringer Ingelheim, DoggyMan, Elanco, Farmina, Gambol, Gimborn, Hagen, Hunter, Instinct, Iv San Bernard, Mars, Morando, Nulo, Orijen, Purina, Royal Canin, and Ziwi have confirmed their presence.
This year’s edition will also host pavilions from Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, Taiwan, USA, Thailand, and Turkey.
“New Zealand Trade and Enterprise has been participating and organising NZ pet food exporters to exhibit together at the NZ Country Pavilion at Pet Fair Asia Shanghai since 2017.
Pet Fair Asia provides a great platform for NZ exporters to connect with industry professionals and practitioners and gain first-hand consumer insights.
We appreciate the hard work and continuous efforts of the organiser to optimise the exhibitor experience and facilitate business introductions.
China is a significant and exciting market for NZ pet food exporters. We are looking forward to being part of the show again this year,” stated Steve Jones, Trade Commissioner Shanghai, New Zealand Trade and Enterprise.
China’s pet economy still on the rise
For 27 years, Pet Fair Asia has mirrored the rapid growth of China’s pet market. According to the “Blue Book of the Pet Industry,” an annual report by APA (Asia Pet Alliance), the host of Pet Fair Asia, the market was valued at 300 billion RMB (approx. 42 billion USD) in 2024. Spending on pet products grew at an estimated 5.5% that year.
While more moderate than in previous years, this growth still outpaced the global average.
The surge is primarily driven by lower-tier cities, where urbanisation continues to fuel pet ownership. With only 23% of China’s population currently owning a pet, the market still holds significant untapped potential for international companies.
Part of a wider regional network
Pet Fair Asia is the flagship event of the Pet Fair Network, which also includes satellite shows in Beijing (Pet Fair Beijing), Shenzhen (Pet Fair South China), and Bangkok (Pet Fair Southeast Asia). Together, they serve as a regional gateway for global pet industry players looking to tap into opportunities across Asia.
