Round-up: Fast delivery gains momentum in global pet retail

From quick deliveries to nationwide logistics partnerships, companies are strengthening fulfillment capabilities to meet evolving consumer expectations.

From Europe to North America and India, companies are investing heavily in faster, wider-reaching delivery networks for pet products. New partnerships, expanded store coverage, and upgraded fulfillment services are helping retailers meet growing consumer demand for convenience, while creating new opportunities to serve customers in both urban centers and remote communities.

Fressnapf

In Germany, pet retailer Fressnapf and delivery platform Wolt recently expanded their partnership by adding 65 more Fressnapf stores across 13 cities to the platform.

The additions, finalized in April, bring the total number of the pet specialty retail stores in Wolt’s network to 78 across 17 cities, including Koblenz, Düsseldorf, Krefeld, Kiel, Bielefeld, Bochum, Lübeck, Mainz, Göttingen, Kassel and Bremen.

Pet owners can purchase approximately 4,500 items from each connected store on Wolt, ranging from pet food and accessories to grooming products.

According to the delivery platform, the top-selling pet product categories in Europe in 2025 were dry food and mixers (39%), wet food (21%), and litter (15%). The most searched pet supply keywords included sand, kitten, gastro, litter and puppy, as well as popular pet food brands.

Expanded and upgraded services

In May, e-commerce giant Amazon expanded its ultra-fast delivery service network, Amazon Now, across the US and the UK. In the US, the service has been added to Dallas-Fort Worth and Atlanta and is rapidly expanding into more cities.

When Amazon Now launched in the US earlier this year, it was initially available only in selected areas of Seattle, Washington, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

In the UK, it was launched in select South-East London postcodes, with plans to expand into more areas soon. The service offers 30-minute delivery for household essentials and groceries, including pet food and treats.

American membership warehouse club Sam’s Club recently upgraded its Express delivery service in the US to deliver items in an hour or less, covering more than 600 clubs. Since its rollout on 2 April, it has fulfilled nearly 65,000 deliveries.

Members can now choose between the upgraded and traditional services (with deliveries that can take up to 3 hours), depending on their needs. Eligible items include pet food alongside other daily essentials.

India

Additionally, the Department of Posts (DoP) has signed an agreement with e-commerce marketplace Flipkart for last-mile parcel delivery services. The deal aims to improve access for customers across urban and rural areas, including remote and underserved regions.

Under the agreement, Flipkart will leverage the DoP’s extensive nationwide network of more than 160,000 post offices, one of the largest postal networks in the world. This will enable the company to expand its reach into areas where private logistics networks may have limited coverage, while enhancing delivery speed and reliability for customers.

The q-commerce sector in India is currently valued at $5 billion (€4.6B), less than 1% of the overall Indian retail market. But it is expected to grow by 50-60% from 2024 to 2030, reaching $59 billion (€51B) to $87 billion (€75B).
