TNC continues European expansion with German raw pet food deal

The Swedish pet food group is strengthening its business with in-house production, regional sourcing and a direct-to-consumer customer base.

The Nutriment Company (TNC) is further expanding its presence in the German market through the acquisition of Frostfutter Perleberg, a manufacturer and B2C online platform specializing in raw pet food. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The brand belongs to K&K Petfood, a German producer of biologically appropriate raw food (BARF), wet food, treats and supplements for cats and dogs. As part of the transaction, the Swedish company also acquired eBarf, K&K Petfood’s premium raw pet food line.

“The combination of in-house production, regional sourcing and a strong direct customer base makes Frostfutter Perleberg and eBARF an ideal addition to our portfolio,” says Julius Adrian, Managing Director Western Europe at The Nutriment Company.

He adds that integrating the companies into the existing structure will allow the business to realize operational synergies and support further growth.

The deal marks the company’s first acquisition of 2026, following 10 transactions in 2025. The most recent was the acquisition of Zoo Factory, a Polish distributor of premium pet treats and food.

Previous acquisitions in Germany

In March 2025, TNC acquired BAF Petfood to expand its premium natural pet food production capacity across Europe.

BAF Petfood, formerly owned by specialist pet retailer Fressnapf, operates a 9,000-square-meter facility in Thalmässing, 55 km south of Nuremberg. The site is described as Germany’s first raw pet food factory.

The acquisition of Graf Barf, a raw pet food producer, followed in June. Beyond Germany, the company also acquired businesses in the UK, Spain, the Netherlands, France and Poland.

Company backgrounds

Founded in 2012, Frostfutter Perleberg’s portfolio includes fresh frozen raw products, high-quality wet food, chews and selected supplements. The firm is headquartered in Perleberg, 150 km from Berlin.

The eBarf shop features the Fix-BARF and Fix-BAF brands, natural and frozen pet food products developed in collaboration with renowned veterinarian Petra von Quillfeldt. According to the company, all raw materials used in the eBarf and Fix-BARF products are sourced from Germany.

Headquartered in Stockholm, TNC supplies natural, premium pet food across Europe. Its portfolio includes Nutriment, DIBO, Barfgold, AniForte, Natural Instinct and Purrform. The company is owned by Nordic private equity firm Axcel.
